Coal phase-out program at the Reuter West site in Berlin

In June 2022, Iqony Solutions was awarded the framework contract for general planning services for a future climate-neutral power and heat generation at the Reuter West site of Vattenfall Wärme Berlin AG (VWB).

The general planning services will be provided for a project portfolio consisting of various climate-neutral generation plants, the associated adaptations to the hydraulic and electrical systems as well as the interface planning between and within the sub-projects. In addition, Iqony will support Vattenfall in the management of the entire portfolio.

Bckground
Vattenfall Wärme Berlin AG operates the largest district heating network in Western Europe in Berlin with a length of over 2,000 km. Coal-fired heat generation is to be phased out by 2030 and replaced by a combination of different technologies. By 2040, Vattenfall Wärme Berlin aims to supply the city completely with climate-neutral heat.
