Contracting

Contracting is a proven method of optimizing energy supply, and not only in industry. Iqony takes over or installs the complete generation plant, handles the procurement of the necessary energy media, takes on the operation and maintenance and assures the contractual partner and customer of the delivery of a precisely defined and secure amount of energy.

This allows the customer to concentrate fully on its core business. In this way we supply, for example, the Karlsberg brewery, the Karstadt headquarters’ energy center in Essen or the Ford works in Saarlouis. Contracting always draws upon distributed generation plants directly on site or networks that are operated close to the site. This reduces line costs and ensures a better carbon footprint.

Iqony takes on the design, construction and operation of these facilities, which can provide electricity, heating, cooling and process steam. Contracting is also available for heating networks. Iqony operates several of these in Germany and has built up extensive expertise in operating them and also in supplying the heat to industrial customers such as the Saar district heating network, and to over 300,000 households and many companies in the Ruhr region.

We offer several contracting models, the focus of which depends on your requirements, such as higher energy efficiency. Various technologies are used. These can be boilers, heating plants, or all eligible combined heat and power (CHP) technologies, ranging from CHP units in the lower megawatt range to combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT) plants in the triple-digit megawatt range. Of course, we also manage PV and wind power plants, which are essential for an energy mix that is increasingly based on renewable fuels and technologies.
