One of the ways to store electricity in particular is green hydrogen. Iqony is developing strategies for the generation, storage, utilization and conveying of green hydrogen. This is because hydrogen will make a decisive contribution to the decarbonization of production processes by serving as a storage medium, and also simultaneously by safeguarding high-temperature processes, for example in the steel and cement industries, or by being used as a basic material in the chemical industry.

Our battery storage systems provide an opportunity to make use of generation peaks in PV and wind energy. Iqony installed six large-scale battery systems in 2016. They compensate for frequency fluctuations in the power grid and also provide a profit from participation in the balancing energy market.
