Distributed facilities

In the future, municipalities in particular will supply themselves with green electricity and green heat to a much greater extent than is the case today.

Ultimately, for reasons of efficiency alone, energy should always be generated where it is needed. It is precisely such distributed energy systems that Iqony plans, builds and operates. Its know-how and services range from the design, construction, optimization and operation of energy plants to contracting models and jointly owned operating companies, for example in the field of heat supply.

These strategies also include a complete infrastructure with networks and connections to the consumers of electricity, heat, cooling and process steam. We use combined heat and power (CHP) systems, for example at waste incineration plants or gas-fired power plants, as well as wind and solar power. The heat generated in this way is fed into the district heating network and is also used by industrial customers.

Iqony planned, installed and operates such a system for the Karlsberg brewery. There, an ultra-modern engine-based CHP plant ensures a reliable power supply. The energy center at the former Karstadt Group headquarters in the Bredeney district of Essen is also operated by Iqony and supplies a total of 120,000 m² of office space with reliable heating and cooling.
