Green heating networks

Distributed energy supply also means decentralized heat production and distribution. One way to achieve this is through heating networks that use locally available fuels or other heat sources in the municipalities to guarantee an efficient and, above all, ecologically sound heat supply.

District heating is a key technology in this context, especially in metropolitan areas. It is the only technology with which green heat can be integrated quickly and economically into a high-density supply system. Iqony operates the corresponding generation plants and networks and has been reliably supplying households, the public sector and trade and industry with heat from combined heat and power (CHP) plants for many years.

For example, we maintain the Saar district heating network over a length of 35 kilometers from Dillingen to Saarbrücken. The short distances covered by district heating are ecologically and economically advantageous. Iqony has been supplying heat to industry, commercial customers, housing associations, public buildings and private customers in Gröditz, Saxony, for decades, as well as in Fürstenwalde, Brandenburg, and in other cities throughout Germany.
