Green heat supply
Heating supply accounts for a large part of the total energy demand in municipalities. That is why a switch to renewable energy sources and technologies is so promising and an important step on the way to CO2 neutrality, but also difficult to implement.
Especially in district heating networks, which up to now have been operated with high temperatures of 120 °C in the feed line, a conversion to renewable energy sources is difficult. Solar thermal energy and geothermal energy or waste heat alone cannot generate the necessary temperatures and pressures. One solution may lie in our local heating networks which are based on lower temperature levels. Heat pumps then provide residents with sufficient temperatures for domestic hot water and space heating.
Our combined heat and power (CHP) technologies, which generate heat and electricity simultaneously, are also particularly efficient in this regard. Up to now, these technologies have been operated at the municipal level with natural gas or as waste incineration plants. A switch to hydrogen or biomass is possible and we are providing support in that process.
